Single Quinta Vintage Ports are made in exactly the same way as the iconic Taylor’s ‘declared’ Vintage Ports. In certain years when a Taylor’s Vintage is not declared, Single Quinta Vintage Ports may be made from the individual produce of the firm’s estates, Quinta de Vargellas and Quinta de Terra Feita. Only very small quantities are made and only in very good years. Many experts believe Taylor’s Single Quinta Vintage Ports to be better than other companies’ declared years. The name of Taylor’s is more of an assurance than the year. Single Quinta Vintage Ports are generally earlier maturing than the Classic Taylor’s Vintage Ports and are ready to drink from ten years, but will go on developing for another twenty years or so.
Deep purple black colour with magenta highlights. Classic black fruit aromas of cherry and cassis provide a dense and impenetrable backdrop for wild scents of mint, resin and gumcistus. On the palate the same intense black fruit character merges with rich dark flavours of and liquorice and chocolate. The tannins are muscular but well integrated and the wine finishes with an explosion of berry fruit and spice.
Store and Serve Advices:
Should be opened two hours before serving and decanted. Serve between 17º and 18º C. Store the bottle on its side, in a cool, dry and dark place.
Vintage Ports are after meal drinks. Take them with cheese like Stilton or Gorgonzola. But you can also incorporate them into a meal, combining for instance a Steak au Poivre with a young Vintage.
