Senhora da Ribeira’s wines are some of the finest in the Douro and they complement those from Bomfim in the composition of Dow’s classic Vintage Ports. The latter would be incomplete if one of the two was absent. The quinta’s high proportion of old vines (45% are over 25 years old) is of critical importance. The old vines are very low-yielding, producing on average less than 1Kg of grapes each, giving intense and concentrated musts which are ideal for classic Vintage Port.
Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Sousão, Old Vines
With an opaque purple color, it shows intense floral aromas of rock rose and violet, thanks to the contribution of traditional Douro Touriga Nacional and Touriga Franca. Moreover, the variety Sousão added spicy notes and good acidity. This is a full bodied wine, with great flavors of black fruit and a firm tannic structure, which shows clearly in the mouth a dry style typical from Dow's wines.
Store and Serve Advices:
Should be opened two hours before serving and decanted. Serve between 17º and 18º C. Store the bottle on its side, in a cool, dry and dark place.
Vintage Ports are after meal drinks. Take them with cheese like Stilton or Gorgonzola. But you can also incorporate them into a meal, combining for instance a Steak au Poivre with a young Vintage.
