Vinified in Quinta do Seixo through traditional technology of Port wine, grapes sourced in Quinta do Seixo and Quinta do Vau. After selection of grapes, crushing and destemming, very intense maceration is followed during the period of alcoholic fermentation, by foot in granite wineries with controlled temperature. Its balance and harmony as well as its body and structure are obtained through the selection of grapes, the intensity of maceration and the choice of the moment of the stop of the fermentation. After the harvest the wine remains in the Douro, being subjected during the winter to the first racking and transported to Vila Nova de Gaia the following spring. Here begins the usual process of aging Port Wine in oak barrels. During this period, the wines are subject to raffles, analyzes and tests, which allow to accompany their aging. The final batch is obtained after thorough selection of the wines, in the insistent search for the best quality.
Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz, Tinto Cão, Sousão
Almost black opaque color. A very intense and complex aroma, with notes of very mature black fruits such as plum, resinous notes of caruma and sous bois as well as notes of cocoa and chocolate, fruit of an excellent maturation. In the mouth it has a great volume, with a vibrant acidity that contributes freshness, well present alive tannins and of great quality, with floral notes to esteva, black fruits and cacao and a very long and elegant finish.
Store and Serve Advices:
Sandeman Porto Vintage Quinta do Seixo 2013 can be drunk immediately. However, it will become ever more complex if aged in bottle over a long period, reaching its peak of quality perhaps around its 15th year of life. From then on, it will continue to provide fine drinking for 20 to 25 years, after which it will still display very attractive "bottle-aged" qualities. The bottle should be sheltered from light and kept horizontally, at a constant temperature of between 16ºC-18ºC. When kept for a few years, it is natural for this wine to form a sediment in bottle. To be enjoyed at its best it should therefore be opened with care and decanted (you may be surprised to discover the extent to which this wine improves by being opened some time before drinking). Serve ideally at between 16ºC-18ºC. Once the bottle has been opened, Sandeman Porto Vintage Quinta do Seixo 2013 should be enjoyed within 2-3 days, approximately.
This elegant, complex wine is an ideal partner for cheese.
